1.     Good communication skills-

2.    Analytical skills-

You should have good analytical skills to arrange the massive unlabeled data. You should be able to use the tools like SQL database and cloud to extract useful trends and patterns in the data. You will need this skill to understand the business processes of the company to its core level.

3.    Technical skills-

As you will be dealing with a lot of data, handling them is impossible without the use of IT. So, you should learn the basics of computer science like MS Office Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint etc. You should know how to work with Windows. You should know at least one programming language like Python or R which provides tools for statistical dataanalysis. A business analyst should be updated with recent revolutions in the IT sector.

4.    Decision-making ability-

You must embody this quality in yourself because your decisions will affect the company at all levels. You will have to make strong and quick decisions after analyzing the data. You will require critical thinking to solve complex problems. You will have to manage projects and track their progress sincerely. So, you should be able to make judgmental decisions.

Being selected as a business analyst will be easier and more assured if you complete at least one of the following degrees: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, accounting, economics, computer science, data science, business intelligence, information management and marketing analytics.

Some certificate courses can also be completed to make your resume attractive. CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) and CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis) are the two recognized certificate courses which would make you stand apart from other candidates. These courses will help you to gain experience as a business analyst and will definitely help you to earn more from the job.
